In honor of the return of Twinkies to stores shelves, i present a display of weird snack food discovered during my visits to grocery stores around the world:
Dried Gold Fish – Don’t tell the little ones, but after you flushed Goldie down the toilet, she ended up as a Russian snack…
Polish Army Food- Not sure why they are selling “Officer’s Pork Loaf” form the Polish Army in my local grocery store..
Brazilian Soccer Player Ice Cream in China – Back when Ronaldinho was at the height of his fame, his curious face was stamped on ice-creams in Shanghai (and all over China)
Japanese Green Tea Marshmallow – This delicious and healthy treat was found in Macau
Chicken HamSausage – Nothing wrong with some “chicken hamsausage” as a snack, but when i saw on the label that this version was “New Good Taste Upgrade”, I had to get some. Found in Guangdong, China
Snakeskin Fruit – This one is a bit different. The name is explained because of its “natural packaging”, which looks like snake skin. Found in Bali, Indonesia
A friend of mine send me the video below, which pretty much sums up a lot of what I have tasted in Asia:
