I can not believe this was not on TV as part of a TLC show. This past weekend Alabama crowned a new Miss Redneck. Katrina Hogg of West Blocton beat seven other contestants in front of a crowd of more than 100 people who turned out for the event on Saturday at the Woodstock Festival Art Center.
Redneck ladies were judged in three categories: redneck themed trivia (“You may be a redneck if…”), talent and of course Daisy Dukes (poise and personality). I am not kidding, those were the categories! Judges included Cumulus Meda’s (WJOX, 99.5) Carli Pilgrim, World Arm Wrestling Champion Jesse Gillian, and singer/songwriter Anne Blake. Event was hosted by Buck Wild. Again, not making any of this up.
In the end, Katrina Hogg tied for first place against Rachel Musso of Bessemer. Trying to up the redneck ante over each other, Katrina and Rachel had two tie-breakers: First they had to name as many country artists as they could in 30 seconds. Still tied, they had to get loudest cheer from the crowd. Katrina and her tattoos won, taking home flowers, a trophy, $100 in cash, several gift cards (possibly for Carroll Truck Repair, Dollar General, Bibb County Gun Repair, Alabama Pigments Company and KynKenKee Lumber) and of course the all important Ms Redneck Alabama title.
