BBC Launches Instafax News Service on Instagram

The BBC is going full force with short film form via a new service called Instafax. Perfect for millennials and people on the go, the service was launched on Instagram to share news items and updates.

Steve Herrmann, head of BBC News Online, was interviewed by The Guardian newspaper and said “the trial was a response to changing audience patterns after monthly figures for December, showed mobile and tablet consumption had overtaken desktop for the first time.”

If the name Instafax sounds familiar, it is because it comes from the BBC’s now defuct Ceefax service.
